The Burberry Wet & Dry Silk Shadow in Pale Barley No. 102 ($31.74 USD from FeelUnique.com - get 10% off $40 with the code FUNSIZE10) makes me feel like a fancy lady. Pale Barley is supposed to be the one-shadow-wonder that you sweep across your eye lids and you are transformed into a goddess of all things put together, natural, chic, and sophisticated.
Burberry's Pale Barley is the one single eyeshadow shade that I've been yearning to get my hands on since the beginning of my blogging days. My student wallet told me otherwise and I was lucky enough to receive this one as press sample. Turns out everyone was talking about the Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow formulation (now discontinued).
While the Burberry Sheer Eyeshadows are no longer available but re-released and reformulated as the Burberry Wet & Dry Silk Eyeshadows. My blogger buddy Gummy Vision has a post (and swatches!) on the differences between the two and by the looks of it, the new Pale Barley is slightly more cool and less golden than the old one.
The packaging is gorgeous. The crosshatch pattern is repeated on all three of the velvet carrying cloth, the metal casing and etched into the product itself. The compact includes a mirror and has a nice weight to it.
The Burberry Wet & Dry Silk Eyeshadow is available in 18 shades, 14 with a satin finish and 4 with a high shine finish. Pale Barley is a cool light/medium brown with a soft shimmer. Other popular shades (that I would have if I were rich) include Rosewood, Almond and Mulberry.

The texture of the powder is just... asf;kajsdlfajsdalfksd. So beautiful and buttery and soft and creamy and all the adjectives that could possibly describe a wonderful eyeshadow. If it weren't wasteful, I'd just mush my fingers into the eyeshadow pan forever. It's not gel-like like ColourPop or Make Up For Ever shadows, just a very finely milled powder so there is a slight bit of fallout.
The shadow is packed with pigment but can blend out into nothing if you want it to. It doesn't stay put on my oily lids for any longer than 4 hours when worn alone but with a good primer it can last for around 7 or 8.
On my skintone, the colour is kind of meh, actually. It just makes my lids look slightly darker and more shimmery than usual. Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely colour. Maybe it's just me that's used to wearing colours that have a little more pop on my eyelids. Maybe I'm not grown up enough or fancy enough for Burberry Pale Barley. Maybe it will look better when I'm paler.
What's your favourite one-look eyeshadow? Have you tried Pale Barley?
