(Lip) Oil Me Up

Lip oils are all the rage in the beauty world and to me, it's no surprise. What's not to love about a beauty product that's got a shot of hydration and the teensiest flush of colour, especially for the summer? I'm all about it. Today - a roundup of 4 lip oils that I've been testing out!

The Essence Prettifying Lip Oil in First Help, Pinky* (~$3 CAD) is by far the least expensive option that I've tried. It's also the most gloss-like, as the texture is slightly tacky. The lip oil has a fairly strong medicinal fruity scent that wears away within the first 10 minutes of wear. Despite appearing to have colour in the tube, it's essentially clear and the pigment is not at all buildable. It's hydrating, comfortable and cheap.

I've already talked about the Quo Lip Oil in 40 Knots* ($12 CAD). It's essentially the Essence Prettifying Lip Oil but better. It's not at all tacky but smells lightly of candy. It's sheer, comfortable, not at all sticky and very lightweight.

From top to bottom:Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip & Cheek Creamy Oil in Limitless Pink, Delectable Everything Balm, Quo Lip Oil, Essence Prettifying Lip Oil

The Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip & Cheek Creamy Oil ($21 CAD for full size) is not a new product to me. I reviewed the shade Endless Guava over two years ago. I picked up the shade Limitless Pink at a Canadian Beauty Bloggers swap and I'm just as in love. It's the thickest of my lip oils though after a an hour or so it absorbs into the skin quite nicely to leave a stain. It's the only lip oil that I own that has enough pigment to show up on the lips.

Last but not least is the Delectable Everything Balm* ($16 CAD for full size). Delectable is a brand under Cake Beauty, which is Canadian cruelty-free, vegan, paraben-free, gluten-free brand. The Everything Balm can literally be used for everything - as a brow gel, lip gloss, cuticle oil, highlight, hair oil, elbow cream, etcetera, etcetera, you know what I mean. The Everything Balm appears thick when squeezed out of the tube but it melts into lightweight, moisturizing nothingness with the warmth of a finger. It also smells like cake.

And that's that for my roundup of lip oils! I'm loving the trend because it's quick and non-fussy.

There's also a few additional lip oils that are also on my radar:
Clarins Lip Oil Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil
YSL Volupte Tint in Oil
Lancome Juicy Shakers
Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil
