Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in Honeycomb, Chai, Spritzer, Gazpacho, Beetroot and Black Truffle

I cried a little when Bite Beauty discontinued their Luminous Creme Lipstick range. But I wept tears of joy when I received a package of six of the new Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks in the mail. 

The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks ($30 CAD/$26 USD) are a new range of 34 high-impact lipsticks. In French, an "Amuse Bouche" is a single, bite-sized appetizer served compliments of the chef. The Amuse Bouche is a vehicle for the chef to convey "big ideas in small bites". Fittingly enough, Bite lipsticks are formulated with food-grade ingredients and processed in low-heat to preserve the nutrients, vitamins and omega oils of the fresh pressed fruit. Their products are made in downtown Toronto. 

As aforementioned, there are 34 shades of the new Amuse Bouche Lipsticks. Some of the old 25 Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick shades share the same names as the Amuse Bouche Lipsticks. To name a few, there's still fig, tannin, pepper - all of which look like similar (or the same) as their predecessors. 

That being said, the formulation feels different from the old Luminous Creme line. The Amuse Bouche Lipsticks feel ever so slightly more sticky and thick than the creaminess of the Luminous Cremes. The Amuse Bouche Lipsticks are still creamy and have a dreamy way of gliding onto the lips but the stickiness also lends to the opacity and the wear-time. 

Like any other lipstick, the Amuse Bouches don't look so hot over dry patches so make sure to moisturize and exfoliate before application. The pigmentation of these lipsticks is impressive. I swatched with one swipe on my arms and on the lips, it takes only two layers to get full on colour. 

In terms of wear, all six of the shades I tried were comfortable and did not dry out my lips. They also didn't feather or transfer onto my chin or lips but all of the shades will transfer onto cups and food. That's the tradeoff when you wear something hydrating instead of a long-wearing liquid lipstick that drains the life out of your lips. Totally manageable. 

The lighter shades Chai (mauve brown) and Honeycomb (beige nude) impressed me the most. After 6 hours with eating and drinking, they somehow managed to look decent. Darker colours like Gazpacho (red), Black Truffle (black violet) and Beetroot (bold berry) stain the lips. They looked stellar for a fair 3-4 hours until the eating and drinking happened, so reapplication was necessary. Spritzer falls somewhere in the middle. It didn't stain my lips like the darker shades but it didn't last as long as Chai or Honeycomb. 

As a lover of both food and lipstick, I'm a fan of both Bite Beauty's concept and the products. The Amuse Bouche lipsticks are not revolutionary per se but the quality is there and there's a boatload of colours to choose from. 

The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks are currently only available to Sephora VIB and VIB Rouge members. They'll be available to everyone online February 23rd and in-stores March 4th.
