This gem from Lipstick Queen is emerald green. It's Lipstick Queen Frog Prince ($31). But don't be fooled. It's not actually green.

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince comes in a box decorated with fairytale graphics. The casing is a pink metal with a frosty, waxy-feeling casing that creates grip, which prevents the product from slipping out of the fingertips.

R: Lipstick Queen Medieval; L: Lipstick Queen Frog Prince

Frog Prince is one of those products that change colour when it makes contact with the warmth of your lips and adapts to the pH of your body. The green bullet is disguised as a rosy hued lipstick. Next to Lipstick Queen Medieval, it's similar in depth and sheerness but slightly more pink. It's by no means a bold, bright, 100% opaque lipstick, however it's definitely got some colour to it, along with a slight wet, balmy sheen. I'm a sheer lipstick/tinted lip balm kind of gal, so this amount of colour and finish is my jam.

Do be forewarned, if you over apply (i.e. 5 or more layers of the stuff), you'll end up with dark brown-green patches pooling into the fine lines of your lips. So, despite wanting to pack on the green, I have to hold myself back from being overly liberal with it.

The moisture wears down quite quickly and I find the longer that I wear the lipstick, the brighter and more pink-stained my lips get. I'd say the initial look of the lipstick lasts maybe 2 hours and the stain persists for another 4-5.

Lipstick Queen says that Frog Prince is formulated with shea butter and vitamin E to soothe and protect. In the winter, Frog Prince isn't enough to keep my lips moisturized. As soon as the glossy finish wears away, so does then moisturized feeling. I always have the urge to apply lots of lip balm overtop or reapply the lipstick.

Okay, okay. So maybe a green lipstick that isn't really green is a little gimmicky. But, I mean, how much of a badass do I seem like when I pull it out of my bag? Then, when I apply it, I magically turn back in to regular old me.

Overall, Frog Prince is my kind of  lipstick. It's sheer with a good amount of colour. The green appearance of the bullet is just an extra. Perhaps at $31, it's a bit of a splurge for what it is... but I can't help but love it anyways. Lipstick Queen's also got a BLUE lipstick called Hello Sailor that turns into a purple/plum/pink that I've got my eye on.
