There's a new skincare device in my life. Since winning Rae's giveaway last December, I've been using the Foreo Luna Mini in Pink ($119) on the daily. Before that I was on a Clarisonic kick, so I thought it'd be fun have a little ~battle of the skincare devices~. For a full review of the Clarisonic SmartProfile, check out my post here.

An introduction to the Foreo Luna Mini...
It's a small version of the original Foreo Luna, a silicone skincare technology suitable for all skin types that uses T-sonic vibrations for deep and gentle cleansing. It's meant to remove dead skin cells, and unclog pores of dirt, oil and makeup residue, while also brightening the skin and enhancing the absorption of skincare. According to Foreo Luna Mini clinical trials, it removes 99.5% of dirt and 98.5% of makeup residue.

The Foreo Luna Mini fits in the palm of my hand. That and the pastel pink = cuteness level 100. It's also quite travel friendly and has a little USB charger to go with it. The Clarisonic is clunky in comparison (though it's totally bearable). 1-0 Foreo Luna Mini.

It doesn't leave my skin as clean feeling as the Clarisonic. The Foreo Luna Mini is gentler. The Clarisonic is way more abrasive and leaves the skin feeling like it's been deeply scrubbed like all the gunk has been pulled out of my pores. The Foreo Luna Mini uses micro-vibrations (up to 8,000 per minute) that leave my skin looking and feeling clean but it lacks the super deep clean feeling that I get from the Clarisonic. That being said, if you prefer a more gentle cleanse, the Foreo Luna Mini is the winner in that leg of the race.  1-1 tie.

There's no purge phase. After the first few times I used the Clarisonic, I had some odd under-the-skin breakouts on my cheeks and chin. My skin broke out just about every time I decided to take a 1-2 week break from using the Clarisonic. I don't have this issue with the Foreo Luna Mini. 2-1 Foreo Luna Mini.

The Clarisonic is more versatile. The Foreo Luna Mini has two different surfaces (the cleaning brush surface and the deep cleaning surface). I can't tell the difference between the big silicone bumps and the small ones. However, the Clarisonic SmartProfile has interchangeable brush heads (for face, body and feet), as well as 4 different speeds (+ a power mode). That being said, the Foreo Luna Mini has a high/low intensity modes and is more user friendly. It turns on with the touch of a button and changes speed with the same buttons. Whereas, it takes some time to figure out all the holding/pressing functions of the Clarisonic. 2-2 tie.

Both the Clarisonic and the Foreo Luna Mini have built-in timers. 4 x 15 second intervals for the Foreo Luna Mini and 2 x 15 seconds + 2 x 30 second intervals for the Clarisonic SmartProfile. 2-2 tie.

The Foreo Luna Mini has longer battery life. 1 hour of charging = 5 months of use. It's been about 2 months and I haven't needed to charge it yet. I couldn't find any specific battery life info for the Clarisonic but I find myself charging it every 2-3 weeks. 3-2 Foreo Luna Mini.

The Clarisonic SmartProfile comes with a 3-year warranty. The Foreo Luna Mini comes with a 2-year warranty. 3-3 tie.

The Foreo Luna Mini is easier to clean. Since the Foreo Luna Mini is crafted from silicone, all it takes is a rinse under some water and maybe a little soap for good measure to get it clean. I feel like Clarisonic's brush heads require a bit more maintenance as the bristles seem a lot more likely to collect gunk buildup (judging from the foundation stains currently on my brush head). Clarisonic recommends that you replace your brush heads every 3-months, which I'm trying to avoid by disinfecting my brush head every so often.  4-3 Foreo Luna Mini.

Overall, both the Clarisonic SmartProfile and the Foreo Luna Mini are effective cleansing devices. I like them both for different reasons. Based on my judging criteria, one is ever so slightly preferred over the other. I received the Clarisonic as a press sample and the Foreo Luna Mini as a giveaway prize. If I had to purchase one myself, I'd go for the Foreo Luna Mini given the compact design, longer lasting battery life, and overall lower price. However, if you're looking for a does-it-all kind of cleansing device and aren't constrained by a student budget, the Clarisonic would suit your needs better.
