MAC Face & Body ($44 CAD for 120mL) is known as an oldie but a goodie in the world of beauty. A couple years ago I picked up a sample of it and fell in love with its lightweight texture and skin-like finish. I didn't end up purchasing it until last year's IMATS but I'm so happy I did. And just like the purchase, this review has been a long time coming.
MAC Face and Body in C3
The MAC Face & Body is available in 14 shades - N1, N2, N3, N5, N7, N9, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7 and white. Depending on the time of the year I'm anywhere between a C2 and C3. I picked up C3, as I typically prefer to use a deeper foundation and then highlight.
Because the Face & Body is a water-based foundation, the pigment will separate if it's sitting for a while so I always make sure to shake the bottle violently before using it. The texture is expectedly thin and water-like but strange in the way that it melds into the face as you blend it in.
Speaking of blending, brushes and the beauty blender are rendered useless with the MAC Face & Body because all they do is absorb the product rather than apply. The best application tool is FINGERS.
Application is atypical. At first, coverage appears to be minuscule but as you rub the product in circular motions more and more the coverage starts to build and the product becomes slightly tacky. This is how you know the foundation is working its magic.
The finish is a beautifully natural. Skin-like but with a shot of extra moisture and hydration without looking greasy. Coverage is light to medium, depending on how much you decide to blend. It covers minor imperfections like acne scarring, but you'll definitely need a heavy duty concealer for active zits and pimples. Oil control (my biggest worry) with the MAC Face & Body is non-existent. Two hours in and my face is looking mighty oily. Luckily, it wears well underneath powders. It lasts about 6 hours on my oily skin
All in all, the MAC Face & Body is my favourite foundation of the moment. Lightweight to medium coverage with a dewy glow that goes well with the summer season.
