Lovers of Philosophy's Amazing Grace and Pure Grace Fragrances, rejoice! Both are now available in the form of dry shampoo. This is a serious launch for Philosophy, as the dry shampoos are its first ever haircare product! The Philosophy Dry Shampoos ($35 CAD, at Sephora and Philosophy.com) are also a very exciting launch for me because I am often too busy (and too lazy) to wash my hair. Dry shampoo is an absolute staple in my product wardrobe.
Philosophy's Amazing Grace is a floral fragrance, with top notes of mandarin orange, grapefruit and bergamot; middle notes of freesia, jasmine and rose; and a base note of musk. Philosophy's Pure Grace is also a floral fragrance, with notes of bergamot, lavender, jasmine and water lily and a base note of musk. For me, the difference is quite straight forward. While both are floral fragrances, Pure Grace is a cleaner scent, slightly soapy, a lot like fresh laundry, while Amazing Grace is still fresh but sweeter than Pure Grace. Both scents are well-known for being very clean.
In the dry shampoos, the clean accent of both scents is very prominent. In fact, the scent of both dry shampoos could not be described as "lightweight"... the fragrance itself is prominent. If my hair is every having an off (read: sweaty/smelly) day, then spraying Amazing Grace or Pure Grace allows me to go outside without being paranoid about being stared at because I'm smelly. As a hair fragrance, it works.
As a dry shampoo, it's effective as well. The Philosophy Dry Shampoo absorbs any and all oiliness in my hair and on second day hair, it can hold onto my hair and keep it looking fresh for up to the end of the third day.
I've read a few reviews from magazines and other bloggers saying that the dry shampoo leaves no white cast. They must not have black hair because it 100% leaves a white cast in my hair. Luckily, a brush and some rapid tszuj-ing will have the white cast gone in no time.
All in all, I'm into it. It's a great dry shampoo (if you can deal with the white cast) and the Pure Grace and Amazing Grace fragrances separate it from other dry shampoos.
