Sephora Collection Mini Cream Lip Stain Set

FINALLY. I can say that I've tried the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stains, a liquid lipstick that is wildly popular in the beauty community. For the holidays, Sephora's got a set of mini Cream Lip Stains ($15 CAD) in 4 bestsellers - Always Red, Infinite Rose, Cherry Blossom and Blackberry Sorbet. 

In this case, mini means baby-sized, like smaller than my pinky finger. 

Infinite Rose (shimmery, sheer gold/peach nude)

Cherry Blossom (blue pink) 

Always Red (true red)

Blackberry Sorbet (deep plum berry)

In terms of colour selection, I'm not in love. Other than the red, I don't think any of the colours really suit my skintone. I really, really, really wish Marvelous Mauve was included in the set because that's the colour that I've had my eye on for a couple years now. Infinite Rose was particularly meh for me. I was surprised that it's a bestseller because it's 100% bleh on my colouring. 

In terms of formulation, they're wonderful. Very potent in colour but I found Blackerry Sorbet to be a touch patchy. They're a little drying and uncomfortable but not the worst that I've experienced. Rather than being a full on "liquid lipstick" that flakes peels off, as the Sephora Cream Lip Stain wears off it leaves a nice bit of colour. That being said, once it's on... it's on for good, which means that precision is key (particularly with Blackberry Sorbet). Apply ever so slightly too far outside the lip lines and you're kind of stuck with the overdrawn lip look for the rest of the day. The Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain lasts about 5 hours on my lips. 

So, while I don't love all of the colours in the set, I'll be picking up Marvelous Mauve in the near future.
