Blippo Kawaii Haul
Blippo offered to send me a selection of adorable little products to play with (and review) and of course I obliged. I'm often a fan of cute things but what is truly important is that they are useful. So, I've assessed everything on the criteria of quality, cuteness and usefulness.
In this case, first is the worst. The Blippo Panda Eye Mask($6.66 CAD) Is kind of cute but the texture ain't silk. It's more similar to the material that a tent is made of, which is not the most pleasant on the face. Also, I feel like I could buy it for $1-$2 at a Daiso or in Chinatown. 3/10 for quality, 7/10 for cuteness, 7/10 for usefulness.
I've got a penchant for cute stationary. As much as I love clean and simple like MUJI, the child in me has a soft spot for things like dancing bears on the Blippo Colorful Animal Friends Ink Pen in Pink ($2.61 CAD). I don't understand why the bears are saying "move", "I'm playing", " CHOO CHOO"but it's fun. It's a decent pen but a bit patchy at times and nowhere near as smooth as MUJI's. 7.5/10 for quality, 7.5/10 for cuteness and 8.5/10 for usefulness.
OMG THREE PEAS IN A POD. Cutest. thing. ever. The Blippo Kawaii Beans Plush Charm ($4.97 CAD) is so squishy and adorable. But I'm not sure what's up with the middle one's face... I just turn that one around. As a whole, it's too small to sleep with as a stuffed animal and too big to use as a purse charm. So what is it even for? Sitting and looking pretty, I guess. 8.5/10 for quality, 9/10 for cuteness and 1/10 for usefulness.
I haven't tried the Kracie Popin' Cookin' Ramen DIY Set ($6.66 CAD) but I already know it's gonna be good. I've tried the Kracie Popin' Cookin Hamburger with Charles in the past and it was so fun and weird to make (though it didn't taste so great). It basically comes with a bunch of packets of powder that you mix with water and pop in the microwave to make ramen, dumplings, and eggs. NEAT!
Overall, an interesting experience with Blippo.com. Everything took a month to get to my Waterloo apartment from Singapore (shipping is free to Canada!). There's a gazillion cute things on the website, granted not everything is useful but indeed everything is guaranteed to be kawaii!
