By "wedding essentials" I actually mean "event day essentials" because I'm not yet at the age when all my friends are getting married (though some are getting engaged!). Mary Kay has got a ton of products specifically for special moments like weddings graduation, prom, garden parties, etc. when you want your makeup to look amazing without having to worry about it.
First things first, when I wake up in the morning my eye bags are the worst. I get very anxious about about special event-type things, so I get very little sleep. Thank goodness for eye cream because my puffy, often discoloured undereyes are in dire need of the Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel ($22 CAD). True to the gel format, it's cooling and perks up my face (and mood) in an instant. The product takes about a minute to sink into the skin and dry down after which my undereyes feel ready for the day.
As someone with uncontrollably oily skin, the Mary Kay Loose Translucent Setting Powder ($18 CAD) is my friend. It's sheer and lightweight and does not flash back in photos when used sparingly. It can get cakey if I'm not careful, so my favourite way to do it is to use a damp beauty blender to "beat" the powder into my face. I find that the dampness of the sponge helps it to meld into the foundation and keeps everything looking natural.
The last step to every makeup look (for events and on the daily) is the Mary Kay Finishing Spray by Skindinavia ($20 CAD, 59mL). It's made by Skindinavia (who also makes setting sprays for Urban Decay). In fact, the Mary Kay Finishing Spray has the same claims as the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray - 16 hours of makeup that looks freshly applied. It doesn't work for 16 hours on my skin. Instead, I'd say it makes my makeup look fresh for up to 10, depending on how humid it is outside!
