Katy Perry x CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick Video, Review & Swatches

TGIF, Teenage Dream, Waking Up In Vegas, California Girls...Huge Katy Perry fan right here. Well... back in high school. But I most of the words to her biggest hits. So, when CoverGirl and Katy Perry announced a collab, I was stoked! 

The Katy Perry x CoverGirl Collection consists of 11 Katy Kat Matte (demi-matte) lipsticks and 2 Katy Katy Eye Mascaras (Blue and Black). Today - all of the Katy Kat Matte lipsticks! I even made a video :) 

  

The scent is exactly the same as the now discontinued CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks. The texture of the Katy Kat Mattes is lighter but equally as pigmented. 

The product inside is said to be a demi-matte finish, which is accurate. Some of the colours apply wonderfully (Crimson Cat, Cat Call), while others are ok and some are a bit patchy on application (Perry Panther, Maroon Meow, Coral Cat). Also, some of the lighter shades catch on to dry patches quite easily (Sphynx Sphynx, Pink Paws, Magenta Minx, Coral Cat) and the darkest shades (Maroon Meow and Perry Panther) stain the lips. 

The colour range is good, particularly if you have light skin. On me, I find some of the lighter shades (Sphynx Sphynx, Pink Paws, Magenta Minx) to be a little chalky looking on my lips. I love that the collection has a bit of quirkiness through blacks and a couple purple shades, paying homage to Katy Perry's mildly wacky personality. 

Wear time is okay. Maybe 3 hours. Particularly with the first 4 shades, if you smush your lips together the product tends to move around leaving bare areas. Obviously, the black is quite high maintenance but damn does it look badass. 

Anyways, onto the swatches! 

Love the colours. The formula is somewhat hit or miss but there are definitely some standout shades in the collection. My favourites are Catoure, Maroon Meow and Crimson Cat!
