EVENT: MAKE UP FOR EVER #ProSculpting

This past weekend, MAKE UP FOR EVER hosted a sculpting workshop and a preview of their new Pro Sculpting Collection at the Al Green sculpture studio in Toronto.

(pssstt... if you're looking for the makeups, scroll to the very bottom)

Makeup artistry is inevitably interrelated to the fine arts. As such, the MAKE UP FOR EVER team was kind enough to help connect the dots between the two. The furthest I ever went in fine art education was elementary school, so my nerves started to kick in as soon as I arrived.

First, a quick sketching exercise on planes. Planes are flat surfaces. The face can be broken into various planes. Light hits each plane differently, thus why some areas of the face are more shaded than others.

Next was a lesson in sculpting...which was just as difficult as it looks.

Then, there was snack time. Way to make me feel like a kid again, MAKE UP FOR EVER!

After the snacks, National Education Director Trinidad demoed the new Pro Sculpting Collection (along with the Ultra HD line) on a model.

The MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpting Face Palette ($54) includes 4 face products - a matte highlight, a shimmer highlight, a contour and a blush/flesh tone. I won't say too much about this one because I have a review that will be up shortly!

Nice brows will never go out of style, so there's the MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpting Brow ($32), which is available in 5 shades - blond (10), dark blond (20), brown (30), dark brown (40), and brown black (50). It has a triangle tip with a slanted edge (very similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer). The pencil also comes with a rounded bristle brow brush and a hidden light matte powder highlight to define the brow.

I don't typically think of lips when it comes to sculpting but MAKE UP FOR EVER's new Pro Sculpting Lip ($32) is meant to add volume and definition to the lips. It's a two-in-one including a semi-matte stain for colour and a highlight to add volume. The Pro Sculpting Lip comes in 4 shades (10, 20, 40 and 50).

Special thanks to MAKE UP FOR EVER for hosting such an informative event.  All three Pro Sculpting products launch March 2016 and will be available exclusively at Sephora and makeupforever.ca
