Netflix all night, class the next morning necessity #1... a really good under eye concealer. Let's be real. I haven't had time to watch Netflix all night. It's more like study all night and cry.

New to me and just launched this month is the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer ($32) in Y23 which I've been testing a little less than a week. Make Up For Ever says that it's a groundbreaking formulation that visibly illuminates, conceals dark under eye circles and seamlessly blurs fine lines and wrinkles. Sounds like the under eye equivalent to a cup of coffee.

In addition to reversing sleep deprivation, the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer is a part of the Ultra HD line, which means that it's designed to look flawless under the clarity and high resolution of 4k HD video technology.

In terms of packaging, the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer is a squeeze tube with a plastic nozzle tip, which is much more hygienic than the doe foot applicators of many under eye concealers.

There are 10 shades of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer available. There are five R## (red or correcting shades) - R20 (light), R22 (light to medium), R30 (medium), R32 (medium to tan) and R40 (tan) - and and five Y## (yellow or concealing shades) - Y21 (light), Y23 (light to medium), Y31 (medium), Y33 (medium to tan) and Y41 (tan). I wouldn't say that this concealer shade range is all encompassing but it's more decent and more organized than some others I've come across.

A side by side comparison of the MUFE Ultra HD Concealer in Y23 vs. the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer in Custard

I received the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer in Y23 (light to medium, concealing). For a shade comparison, I've swatched it beside the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard, which I've been using since the summer last year. The MUFE Ultra HD Concealer in Y23 is significantly lighter in colour when compared to the NARS concealer in Custard. MUFE Y23 matches the inside of my arm (which is comparable to the lightest parts of my face), while the NARS concealer in Custard appears too dark and too yellow but is actually the perfect match for my summer tan.

The colours are different and so are the textures. The MUFE Ultra HD Concealer is less weighty and less creamy which lends itself nicely to creaseless wear under the eyes but much too light to conceal my blemishes.

When dotted onto the darkest areas of my under eye circles, the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer appears slightly too light. Luckily for me, it blends out flawlessly and conceals without looking cakey or heavy underneath my eyes. It looks fairly natural, but the remnants of the blue tones of my dark circles are still slightly noticeable. I know that if I had a slightly more orange-toned concealer (i.e. the colour correcting shade) used in conjunction with Y23, the dark blue tones of my under eye circles would be cancelled out.  In terms of wear-time, it seems to stay put (when set) for ~10 hours, which is makes me very happy.

Overall, the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer is a winner. It's a little pricey for a bottle that's barely the size of my palm but a little goes a very long way.
